These mild-flavored Chinese raw shelled Pine Nuts actually grow in a variety of pine cone and have to be harvested by hand. They are harvested from areas in Asia reaching from Tibet to Inner Mongolia and Korea as well as the Mediterranean. Used in many Mediterranean dishes, such as pesto, these are also known as pignoli and pinion. And they're good for you - rich in protein and dietary fiber.
